XM Radio has become my friend

Figured I'd go ahead and update this.

Christmas has come and gone, and heck, the New Year has come and the old one gone now as well. It's been a crazy last month for me, hell, it's been a crazy year for me, but I'd rather not go into that.

For Christmas this year, I got a really cool present from my uncle, something I was totally not expecting. This year I got a Delphi Satellite Radio Car Kit along with a pre-paid subscription to XM Radio for 3 months. NOTE: the model I linked to is actually the newer one than what I have, but is very cool none the less.

I've never really been one for music or radio for that matter. I own an iPod Shuffle, but I actually rarely use it. However, in the car, especially on some of my longer trips, having the radio on is a GOOD thing, and living in southwest Iowa it's hard to find a station you enjoy, much less a station at all really.

So when I got the present Saturday, I had my uncle help me hook it up in my car and then I was able to test it out fully on my 2 and a half hour drive to Kansas City. Needless to say, I will never go back to local radio again. The whole drive I had a perfectly clear reception, every song sounded like it was coming out of my cd player. The display on the screen of my device would show the current song playing along with who was singing it which I loved because there's a lot of songs I know the words to without knowing who sings it.

Best of all: No commercials.

I found myself switching between the 80's channel and the 90's channel. Also I enjoyed the classic rock channel and modern rock as well. Also found myself switching between the top 20 hits and the comedy channel.

Overall, 160 channels, no commercials, crystal clear signal. Bye bye regular radio.
